Sustainability

Nature is one of my greatest passions, and as a family, we try to protect it by living as sustainably as possible. We compost, recycle and reuse. We look for alternate packaging and support those businesses that provide recyclable content. We generate our own electricity using solar panels. We mostly buy clothing made from natural fibres and often second-hand. We collect litter from roadsides and beaches. The land we live on has a Heritage Agreement, which enables us to better protect the indigenous flora and fauna. We buy and plant many trees and shrubs annually.

Staying true to myself and being as sustainable as possible, it was important the vessel housing Allo, had minimal plastic and could be reused again. The tin you will receive is made from aluminium, which is infinitely recyclable without losing its properties. However, it does have a piece of EPE wadding that sits inside the lid, which the manufacturer won’t be removing in the short term. The top and bottom labels are paper, so please be aware that they are porous.

Allo will be posted in recyclable or reusable cardboard boxes, with paper padding.

My hope is to eventually come up with a system that reuses the aluminium tins you buy, however in the meantime, here are some ideas for their reuse:

  • Small tubs of food such as sauce or mayo, for a picnic or school lunches.

  • Travelling light with tins of shampoo, conditioner or sunscreen.

  • Hardware and tools like nails, screws, washers and bolts.

  • Office and desk supplies like rubber bands, tacks and staples.

  • Kitchen content such as spices and loose tea leaves.

  • Garden and vegetable seeds you may wish to store before planting.

  • Craft supplies like beads, sewing needles, pins and buttons.

  • Tech accessories such as earbuds, USBs or cables.

  • Personal care like hair ties and bobby pins.

Thank you for making choices that ensure a greener future.
