Ingredients
Before making a purchase, you are offered a choice of balm that contains either Beeswax or Soy Wax. The remaining ingredients are the same - Mango Butter, Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil and Rosehip Oil. There is also a choice of four scents, which come from the essential oils - Lemongrass, Mandarin, Rose geranium, or the absolute oil, Vanilla.
Please be aware, Allo should be kept away from direct sunlight or temperatures exceeding thirty degrees. It will starts softening and potentially melting. Once placed out of the sun, it will begin to solidify again.
You may notice white lines running over the surface of the Allo with Soy Wax. This is called "frosting" and occurs when the balm changes temperature, as it does going from a hot saucepan into a cold tin. This "frosting" does not affect the quality of the balm and will disappear once the top layer is used up. A similar chemical reaction occurs with the Beeswax as it cools, but it is called "crystallisation". This may appear as paler areas within the balm.
Soy Wax and Beeswax provide a different consistency. Soy wax is softer and creamier. Beeswax is slightly firmer, but still melts into the skin well. It all comes down to your personal preference, but both options are nourishing, hydrating and luxurious for the skin.
Beeswax / Cera alba Derived from honeybees and sustainably sourced from South Australia. Contains vitamin A (retinol), which may support skin health. Contains compounds associated with collagen and elastin support, which may help improve the appearance of skin texture. Traditionally used in skincare products intended to support overall skin condition. May help maintain clearer-looking skin as part of a broader skincare routine. May support natural skin renewal processes. May help reduce the visible effects of environmental stressors, including sun exposure. Contains antioxidant compounds that may help protect the skin from free-radical damage.
Soy Wax / Glyine max Vegetable wax derived from soybean oil, making it a renewable, GMO-free ingredient. Offers a creamy, smooth texture compared with beeswax-containing formulations. Contains Vitamin E (tocopherols) and lecithin. Helps support the skin's natural moisture barrier and hydration. Commonly used in skincare products designed to improve the appearance of dry or rough skin. Provides antioxidant properties that may help protect against environmental stressors. Can help shield formulations from UV-related degradation by absorbing some UVB light. Known for soothing and conditioning properties that may help calm the appearance of irritated skin. May help improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and visible blemishes. Lecithin functions as a natural emollient, helping to soften and moisturise the skin.
Mango Butter / Mangifera indica Cold-pressed from the mango kernel, a nutrient-rich source of natural fats. Contains Vitamins A, C, and E. The benefits of these vitamins can be learnt about under the Soy Wax and Beeswax descriptions. Provides antioxidant properties that help protect against free-radical damage. Contains linoleic (Omega-6), oleic (Omega-9), and stearic fatty acids. These fatty acids help support the skin’s moisture barrier, hydration, softness, and overall skin condition.
Jojoba Oil / Simmondsia chinensis Cold-pressed from jojoba seeds, it is an oil that closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum, making it suitable for most skin types. Contains naturally occurring minerals, including copper and zinc. Rich in Vitamin E (tocopherols), which provides antioxidant properties and helps protect against environmental stressors. Contains B vitamins that support overall skin health and appearance. High in Oleic acid (Omega-9), which helps moisturise and condition the skin. Known for its soothing properties.
Grapeseed Oil / Vitis vinifera Derived from grape seeds - a by-product of winemaking – it is a lightweight oil which is fast-absorbing. Contains naturally occurring minerals, including iron and calcium. Rich in Vitamins A, C and E. Please refer to other ingredients for benefits. Contains Linoleic acid (Omega 6) - an essential fatty acid that helps support the skin’s moisture barrier and overall condition. The skin is unable to produce this on its own.
Apricot Kernel Oil / Prunus armeniaca Derived from apricot kernels. Rich in essential fatty acids - Oleic (Omega-9) and Linoleic (Omega-6). Oleic acid helps support the skin’s moisture barrier, which in turn may soften skin and improve elasticity. Linoleic acid regulates sebum, has been known to calm inflammation and may assist with skin repair. Contains naturally occurring Vitamin E (refer to Soy Wax), Vitamin A (refer to Beeswax), and Vitamin K.
Rosehip Oil / Rosa canina Derived from the hips of the rose plant, after being dried and then cold-pressed. Full of antioxidants, which help protect the body from free-radicals. Contains Vitamin A (Retinol), which assists in supporting the skin’s natural renewal process and therefore helping with texture and tone. Contains Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), which provides antioxidant protection against environmental stressors. It may help in supporting a brighter, more even-looking complexion and plays a role in the skin’s natural collagen-forming processes. Contains Vitamin E (Tocopherol), which is an oil-soluble antioxidant that helps protect against environmental stressors. It is known to support the skin’s natural moisture barrier and hydration, helping to maintain soft, healthy skin. Contains fatty acids Linoleic (Omega-6) and Alpha-linoleic acid (Omega-3), which are anti-inflammatory and may assist in wound healing.
Lemongrass Essential Oil / Cymbopogon flexuosus Extracted from steam distillation and sourced from India. Acts to balance the skin’s oils which may help managing acne. Some therapeutic properties include antiseptic, antibacterial, analgesic, digestive and immune support. Emotional benefits may include feeling more energised, balanced and in harmony.
Mandarin Essential Oil / Citrus reticulata Extracted from steam distillation and sourced from Australia. Has been seen to be beneficial for both oily and dry skin types. It can improve some circulatory issues. It has been seen to help relax the smooth muscles that line the walls of internal organs.
Rose Geranium Essential Oil / Pelargonium graveolens Extracted by steam distillation and sourced from Egypt. Effective skin healing properties, acts to improve blood circulation and can help ease skin conditions. May help treat cuts and wounds.
Vanilla Absolute Oil / Vanilla planifolia Organic, hexane-free extraction and sourced from Madagascar. Known to be an excellent antioxidant. It has anti-ageing and skin brightening effects.
